the Delia Morán Vidanta Foundation Education Center Celebrates the Graduation of Its First Generation of Students

11 / Jul / 2017

Mexico City, July 11th, 2017 - The Delia Morán Vidanta Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to instilling values and developing skills in low-income children through educational and fun activities, will celebrate the graduation of the first generation of students to successfully complete the four-year program this July 13th.

The program was designed for children between 6 and 12 years old from at-risk families in the community, with the aim of providing education and other skills through academic, artistic, and athletic activities, including English, mathematics, reading, computer science, science, values, and nutrition, to provide an education above and beyond that received at school. The purpose is for the children to discover and develop their potential and creativity. As Isabel Arana, Director of the foundation explains “the program does not replace the basic education from regular elementary schools, but complements it.”

The admission process for the foundation’s program is done in collaboration with the DIF from Nayarit System (System for the Integral Development of the Family), which carries out the socio-economic and medical studies required from children interested in participating. The foundation presents a complete program that considers all the necessary aspects to be successful: it provides transportation, highly qualified teachers, learning and recreation areas, as well as the materials and technology required to participate in all activities.

During the graduation ceremony, Anna Aurora Alarcón de Palacios, President of the Delia Morán Vidanta Foundation, and Isabel Arana will unveil a plaque in honor of the first 47 children who successfully completed the entire four-year cycle of the program. The event will also be attended by members of Grupo Vidanta's corporate staff, including Manuel Becerra, Planning & DO Corporate Director; José A. Alonso López, Director of Vidanta Nuevo Vallarta; and Benny Michaud, Corporate Director of Hotel Operations.

As part of a long-term commitment to the talented children of this first generation, the foundation will have semi-annual follow-up meetings with alumni and their families. In addition, as part of a new institutional program, all graduates will be able to participate as volunteers and support the teachers and children of the Delia Morán Vidanta Foundation. This will facilitate the link between the organization and the graduates in order to continue to provide them with support and advice in their studies.

There are also future plans to establish a process that will allow these young talents to do professional internships at Grupo Vidanta once they begin their university studies. "We have a vision that spans not only the short term but the long term, too, to work with them and their families, and open the doors to a beneficial life project," says Isabel Arana.

The Delia Morán Vidanta Foundation is one of the most important efforts that Grupo Vidanta carries out as part of its social responsibility strategy and is part of the company’s ongoing mission to inspire generations of happiness by contributing to the preparation and development of children to have a future full of opportunities. In addition to the institutional program for children from elementary school levels, the foundation offers workshops for their parents, and since 1988, provides financial support to a hospice of the same name in Atotonilco, Jalisco.
