Mexico City, May 9th, 2019. - During the awards ceremony that distinguishes 'The Best Places to Work', held on May 8th, the consulting firm for Great Place to Work in Mexico once again recognized Grupo Vidanta—the leading developer of resorts and tourism and entertainment infrastructures in Mexico and Latin America— for the ninth consecutive year, within the top ten of the best companies to work for in Mexico in the "Big Company" category.
The process, evaluation and certification given by Great Place to Work are considered incredibly exhaustive and generally accepted throughout all industries as accurate due to their rigorous analysis and thoroughness gathering opinions of the employees regarding corporate culture. For the last nine years, Grupo Vidanta has been recognized amongst the top 10 in its category, establishing it as an exemplary employer and a benchmark in the tourism industry.
An essential reason for Grupo Vidanta’s consistent recognition is because of its programs and incentives that inspire its employees to grow and develop within the company. This results in a high employee retention rate due to their exceptional benefits. A great example of this is the "Bien Hecho" program, which aims to highlight exceptional behavior of employees, promoting recognition among co-workers; or the internal career pathing program that provides new skills to those who seeking long-term success within the company.
Currently, 30% of the maintenance team, 25% of the food and beverage team and more than 20% of the housekeeping staff have participated in career planning and embarked on a clear career path. If they meet their goals, all of them could obtain positions at the management level in one to five years.
"We are very proud that more than 60% of supervisory and management positions are filled with internal personnel, as a result of the plans, programs and training available within the company," said Manuel Becerra, Planning and Organizational Development Director of the Grupo Vidanta.
Another reason that Grupo Vidanta has been recognized as one of the best companies to work for in Mexico is its tireless promotion of diversity and inclusion. Today, of the more than 17,000 employees, 60% are men, and 40% are women, with 35% of the total staff being over 40 years of age. Also, it is not uncommon for multiple members of a family to work for Grupo Vidanta, with some families having up to three generations contributing to the company. Such is the case for Juanita Bocanegra at Vidanta Los Cabos, who joined the company 12 years ago and has been named "Star Employee," a recognition created by the company to reward the effort, excellent work and the incredible attitude of its employees.
During the ceremony, Grupo Vidanta also received a special recognition within the "Pride" dimension—one of the five dimensions evaluated by Great Place to Work®—which reflects its employees’ sense of belonging, including such important aspects as celebrating team achievements and contributions to the community. This distinction is extremely important because it represents the employees’ voice and evaluates their pride in three crucial areas: work, team and company.
Because Grupo Vidanta values the Great Place to Work pillars of respect, impartiality and credibility, it continues to inspire generations of happiness through its exceptionally high service standards; its various inclusion initiatives; and its training programs, development and integration—all of which aim to bring dignity and a high quality of life to all work.
